Of The Essence

In 2020, a friend came to Bryce Watts Hansen and said ‘I wish there was a handbook on what to do when your significant other gets drafted into the NFL.’ Out of that sentiment, the NFLadies podcast was born. This podcast was made to highlight the significant others and give them a platform to talk about their own dreams and aspirations.

Since the launch of her podcast, Bryce envisioned building a community not only for the significant others of NFL players but for those involved in all sports. After years of contemplating how to unite this community, she enlisted the help of Sarita Scarlett—a former guest on NFLadies, an NFL wife, and the owner of PRESSED, one of the most sought-after game day apparel companies—to help bring this idea to life.

We give you that push to connect with people who have more in common with you than you think. At its core, this community is about togetherness and finding a friend in an unfamiliar city. However, we have the power to decide where we go from here. Your next friend is closer than you think…

MEET THE FOUNDERS

Bryce Watts Hansen

As a former collegiate soccer player, Bryce always had a built-in friend group. When her husband was drafted into the NFL in 2017, she quickly learned about the transactional nature of professional sports. Making and keeping friends when you move to four states in one season is hard, but holding a job is near impossible. She wanted to be present and support her husband in every aspect of his NFL career, so she started working as a content creator. Finding an occupation that she could do wherever they went allowed her to live a life alongside football instead of behind it.

If you need a friend or a laugh, she’s your girl.

Sarita Scarlett

Sarita met her husband during her freshman year of college, completely unaware of what the future would hold. When her husband was drafted in 2019, she quickly realized that maintaining a job or living in one city for an extended period, like her fellow college friends, was not realistic. In an effort to be involved in her husband’s career and present for her children, Sarita decided to start what began as a passion project: designing custom apparel for fellow NFL significant others. This passion quickly evolved into a business that expanded into various sports across the country and beyond.

As she connected with her clients, Sarita discovered that all sports share similar circumstances and challenges. This realization inspired her to create a space dedicated to uniting the significant others of athletes—often overlooked in the sports world. After spending time in the NFL, XFL, and CFL, and connecting with women from the MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS, and more, Sarita now feels more equipped and passionate than ever to help unify this community.
